Your Perfect Pocket Monster Legends: Z-A Super Form Based on the Zodiac Sign
This comeback of Super Forms in Pokémon Legends: Z-A has ignited widespread enthusiasm across the community. From the one-by-one reveal of newcomers before the game's release, to trainers forming strong views on the entire lineup of Mega Evolutions, there's plenty for enthusiasts to look forward to.
With many of the Mega Evolutions showcasing unique designs that emphasize their traits, one idea naturally: What's the best way to connect this with astrology? The following is inspired by a mix of intuition, sign stereotypes, and individual observations.
Aries – Mega Camerupt
Honestly, Houndour's evolution was nearly selected for this fire sign, as they are the Super Form and astrological sign that evoke the most fear. But, a Mega Houndoom appears as always angry, which isn't typical of the Ram's energy, known for being playful, light-hearted, and spontaneous. This makes the Ram much more similar to Mega Camerupt, which only spews lava when angered. Stay on the friendly side of either and enjoy a strong partner; if you cross them, prepare to face the consequences.
Taurus – Super Heracross
Similar to a devoted Bull, the reliable Heracross, both in its standard and Super Form, has aided many players in Legends: Z-A. Though trustworthy, each the creature and a Taurus are still battle-oriented, and – whether it's their companion or a strong opinion – will defend their position unwaveringly. The thing about Super Heracross that reminds me most of my Taurus friends, though, is its unabashed passion for snacks. Many past official descriptions note their fondness for tasty tree sap and how it employs its appendage to hoard it all, which is pure Bull-sign vibe.
Gemini – Super Medicham
Look at this total royalty. It's impossible to convince me this Pokémon is not the soul of any gathering, providing an endless stream of chatter to anyone who wants to listen. Much like an captivating, sociable Twins, it's very simple to envision Super Medicham captivating an entire open area with their stories. Medicham’s Pokédex entry also states its capacity to predict an enemy’s next moves, which sounds very like a people-smart Gemini.
Cancer – Super Manectric
The Crab is widely regarded as the most emotional sign of the zodiac, a intense sign famous for frequently getting absorbed in their feelings. Per the Pokédex, Mega Evolution fills the creature with a “huge quantity of energy, but it's too much for Manectric to completely manage,” which seems a lot like a typical Cancer crash-out. It is also recognized for its ability to create a storm cloud over its own head – and if there’s a single trait a Crab is going to do, it’s spoil their good time.
The Lion – Mega Starmie
Oh, did you think I was going to pick the lion Pokémon for the lion of the zodiac? Aside from the reality that it would be far too obvious, The Lion is obviously Mega Starmie, the star whose gams just went viral for being too fabulous (or terrifying, based on your taste). Players couldn’t look away from the violet starfish, and that’s exactly the same vibe a Lion brings to the table. Starmie is also said to be transmitting radio waves from its center out into space, and it’s typical of a Lion to be staging a show, albeit for aliens.
Virgo – Mega Victreebel
The ever-prepared and perpetually-anxious Virgo is ideally represented in Mega Victreebel, the Super Form with perpetual acid reflux. The zodiac symbol famous for being endearingly judgmental is clearly reflected throughout this creature's whole evolutionary chain, from a perpetually shocked face like a Virgo when you inform them you don’t have a 401(k), to its upside-down face that’s just like the symbol a Virgo posts to the chatroom when all says they want to “go with the flow” rather than making a plan.
The Scales – Mega Audino
Look at this gentle, empathetic being, who uses the feelers on its ears to tell how people are feeling by their heartbeat. Consistently compassionate – sometimes to a detriment – and striving to maintain the peace, there are many Scales who would probably appreciate Super Audino's skills. However, let’s be honest, it would probably just cause them to stress even more about everyone else.
Scorpio – Mega Banette
Banette is a Pokémon with a unexpectedly tragic backstory: Discarded as a toy, it gained sentient through pure resentment and swore retribution on its previous caretaker. Per the official info, Mega Evolution, “enhances its spitefulness.” That sounds exactly like many discussions I’ve had with my intense Scorpion acquaintances. A Scorpio loves karma and comeuppance, making them the perfect match with Mega Banette.
The Archer – Mega Hawlucha
Each Super Hawlucha and Sagittarians are always putting on a performance. As a Sagittarius personally, the amount of occasions I’ve referred to myself some version of a “silly small jester” is countless. The most flamboyant and most obnoxious Super Form, its description even notes how it “poses to display its power.” I would do the exact same thing if I had some kind of Mega evolved form, making Super Hawlucha the most fitting Archer match I can think of.
Capricorn – Super Absol
Were you aware that a Mega Absol has the power to foresee calamities ahead of time? That gives the exact same energy as a Goat, who tends to consistently think they’re correct. Interestingly, much like a prophetic Mega Absol, they frequently are. It’s also the absolute initial Mega Evolution that players meet in Legends: Z-A – typical of a Goat to get in on the ground floor of the Mega trend.
Aquarius – Super Chandelure
Aloof air sign Water Bearer is arguably the non-fire sign that is most like a fire sign – its counterpart is Leo, and there are countless jokes about Sagittarius and Water Bearer being chaotic partners in crime. Mega Chandelure’s double Ghost/Fire category fits seamlessly with this, and the Mega’s overall daunting presence is also extremely Water Bearer. If you weren’t already convinced, the Mega’s Pokédex entry says it “draws in negative energy and transforms it into power.” If that fails to perfectly {encaps
