The Streaming Giant Casts Spot-On Actor for Bentham in the Hit Series Third Season

The Secret Organization is geared up to exert significant influence in Netflix’s upcoming season of One Piece, even if the real showdown won’t take place until season 3, and a cherished, popular member has now been chosen.

Netflix announced Tuesday that Cole Escola is now part of the One Piece upcoming season’s lineup and will embody Bon Clay. The role possesses the power to morph into an exact copy of any person they’ve laid a hand on with their dominant hand. Escola, who is non-binary and goes by they/them, will portray a rendition of that character reinterpreted as non-binary, rather than as a drag queen, in the live-action show, differing from the original manga and cartoon version.

The new cast member will work alongside multiple new cast members who will portray the organization to the screen, such as leader Sir Crocodile, played by the seasoned performer, an emerging star as a key member, and a familiar face, who will appear as the cast as the monarch of the desert kingdom.

Though this character is a key figure of the organization, the individual will be introduced in One Piece season 3. Considering season 2 expected to adapt the Little Garden arc, this represents a major departure in the schedule of Bon Clay’s introduction, one that could suggest more adjustments to the story’s structure.

Escola’s blend of precise humor and profound feeling makes them a ideal selection for the character. In addition to their latest vocal work in the animated feature Boys Go to Jupiter, they earned widespread acclaim and multiple awards for penning and acting in the popular theatrical show Oh Mary!, highlighting the range they’ll add to one of One Piece’s widely praised roles.

The streaming service’s real-life One Piece program is set to return for its season two on March 10th, 2026.
