The Latest Casual Playlist Sparks Intense Debates Over Bots, XP Rewards, and Wait Times
Recently, the game developers launched a fresh game mode called Relaxed Breakthrough. In essence, this mode mirrors the standard Breakthrough format but includes several notable adjustments:
- Every squad includes just eight human participants, with the rest made up of 32 bots.
- Actions performed by human gamers grant full XP, while AI activities offer lower rewards.
- Just a pair of locations are available: Cairo Siege and Empire State map.
- Features like Player tags, accolades, and career stat updates have been turned off.
In short, the playlist delivers on its title: it offers a casual take of Breakthrough. On the surface, one could assume there's nothing wrong, as it gives additional choices for gamers seeking different ways to have fun with the title. But, gaming history have taught us anything, it is that not everyone will be happy. Which is to say, a lot of Battlefield 6 fans are mad.
Community Responses: From Fury to Support
"People want real players. Don't repeat the mistakes of your rivals," states one reply to the mode reveal. "Absolutely shocking concept," comments a different user. Meanwhile, on the Battlefield subreddit, one user remarks, "It's unclear where we are headed with this title," and another lists everything they believe to be problematic in the game: "Resolve glitches, address drone issues, fix IVF rockets, adjust aiming after sprinting, fix awful hit registration. We don't need this AI-heavy playlist."
However, for every complaint, there are players sharing how much they're enjoying the recent addition. "It's enjoyable to warm up, human participants prevent it from being a total farmfest but it's quite laid-back," says one Reddit comment. "This subreddit doesn't understand that there are players who have lives and don't play this title all the time. Allow them to find a middle ground," adds another. One reply on Twitter explains that as they're "a battledad with limited time, this is perfect for me," and someone else applauds the mode for "avoiding intense competition."
Constructive Criticisms and Player Input
Despite the support, players have valid points to complain about Casual Breakthrough. Some users have pointed out that it could increase queue times more extended for other modes because of the sheer number of playlists currently available. Similarly, some areas often face AI-filled matches in the current modes. It also seems somewhat counterintuitive that the mode won't start without a minimum number of real players, despite it primarily centers on combat against bots.
Finally, one of the biggest complaints is that Battlefield Portal was meant to offer full XP, even against bots, but that was removed when they tried to eliminate XP farming from the system. Thus this new playlist seems like the player base compromising halfway, as per forum feedback. Another describes this addition as the developers "making a mistake significantly, I experienced so much fun in the first couple of days, why did they feel the need to change it?"
Looking Ahead: Will Changes Be Made?
Should Battlefield Studios has demonstrated something to date with the latest installment, it is that they're paying attention and acting on feedback. Assignments being too difficult got fixed very quickly, just like the required Redsec challenges. It is likely that, if their data shows this new playlist is underperforming to their standards, they will not hesitate to change it again.
