Slot Insists He Is Safe and Retains Liverpool's Support Following PSV Eindhoven Loss

The Liverpool head coach acknowledged that it's natural for doubts to be raised about his position following another heavy defeat against the Dutch champions.

The Reds suffered their ninth defeat in 12 matches, representing the club's poorest run after being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league champions on a difficult night at Anfield.

“I am feeling safe, things are alright, I have got plenty of backing from the top,” the coach stated.

“It would be nice to turn it around and earn three points obviously but when you're working as a coach and underperforming then it's expected that questions are asked.”

He added, “I am OK with my position. It is not the first time I've found myself in a challenging situation but it's crucial that we changed our fortunes.”

Talks with Liverpool Hierarchy

When asked to provide details on his discussions with the club's leadership, the head coach revealed:

“We talk a lot. They are helpful for the squad and for me and we discuss these matters but they don't phone me all the time of the day to say they back me.”

He mentioned, “Through standard conversations we have I perceive the trust. However I've not talked to them since this defeat so far so let’s see.”

Recurring Problems and Player Response

The manager highlighted recurring weaknesses from his squad in their Champions League defeat, specifically wasted chances and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was blunter in his evaluation of the current crisis.

“I don’t have the solutions. Frankly, I don’t. I’m saying that to everybody,” the midfielder said.

“It's simply not good enough. I don't need to wait to think about it. I'm beyond getting mad inside. I’m at the point now where I simply lack the vocabulary.”

He continued, “It's tough because I play for the club I love. I'm a supporter, and I’ve seen this club all my life.”

“In recent memory, I've not seen a Liverpool team going through a period of this nature with outcomes so bad.”

He finished, “But we continue to wear the crest on our chest. And until it is removed, we’re always going to compete.”

“We will attempt to get this team back to its rightful place, show everyone once more what this club is about and why it's known as the top club in the planet.”

“However currently, we’re in the shit and it must improve.”
