Beloved Star Pat Finn, a versatile actor, Known For Parts in The Middle and Friends, Passes Away at the Age of Sixty.
American performer Finn, who appeared in beloved television series including Friends, Seinfeld and The Middle, has succumbed at the age of 60.
The comedy and improvisation performer died at home in LA this Monday following treatment for cancer since 2022, according to media reports.
"Pat saw everyone as a friend - solely future friends he hadn't encountered," his loved ones shared in a statement.
They noted that he had "experienced life to the fullest - with zest and passion".
A Prolific Television Career
Finn's first television role was on the George Wendt Show in the mid-90s, where he appeared as the titular character's brother.
He was also seen in a regular part on "Murphy Brown" from 1995 to 1997.
He played the part of a party host named Joe Mayo in "Seinfeld" in the late 90s, depicting a host known to delegate tedious tasks to his guests.
During the late 1990s and early 2000s, he appeared as a guest star on several popular shows, such as:
- The King of Queens
- "Friends"
- That '70s Show
- "House"
He was most recognized for playing Bill Norwood in The Middle, starring in eight seasons from 2011 to 2018.
His film credits encompass It's Complicated (2009) and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups.
Beyond the Screen
Beyond his on-screen roles, Finn was a skilled improviser and worked as a teacher at the University of Colorado, where he was a faculty member.
He was part of a six-member improv team known as Beer Shark Mice.
"He coached, befriended and mentored many learners over the years and you'd be hard-pressed to find anyone who has a bad thing to say about him," his family wrote.
Paying homage, peer Richard Kind remarked there was "nobody more kind, gentle, and humorous, grounded individual you could encounter".
"Perpetually optimistic, helping you be funnier and better. A wonderful father and man," he shared publicly.
The actor is survived by his partner Donna, his children, and his family.
